FAQ’s
Frequently Asked Questions?

Do I need to already have a diagnosis to start medication management?
No. Many of our patients begin with a mental health evaluation to determine whether medication is the right step. If you already have a diagnosis, we will review it alongside your history to confirm or refine your treatment plan.
How do you decide which medication is right for me?
We consider multiple factors—your symptoms, health history, past medication responses, and lifestyle. We start with the lowest effective dose of the most appropriate option and adjust based on how you respond over time.
What if I’ve tried medication before and it didn’t work?
That’s very common. Our approach is to understand why previous treatments may have failed—whether it was the wrong medication, dosage, or lack of follow-up. With close monitoring and communication, we find what works best for you now.
Will I have to stay on medication forever?
Not necessarily. Some patients use medication long-term, while others only need it for a season of stabilization. We regularly reassess your progress and goals to determine whether continuing, adjusting, or tapering makes the most sense for your health
How often will I need follow-up appointments?
Initially, follow-ups are more frequent—typically every few weeks—to monitor effectiveness and side effects. As you stabilize, we may space out visits. Our goal is to stay in close communication and make proactive adjustments when needed.
Are psychiatric medications addictive?
Most psychiatric medications are not addictive. If a medication does carry a risk for dependence, we will fully inform you and only prescribe it if clinically necessary, with safeguards in place.
Is medication management covered by insurance?
Yes. Most major insurance plans, including Medicare and Tricare, cover psychiatric medication management services. We are happy to verify your coverage before your first appointment.
