FAQ’s
Frequently Asked Questions?
.png)
How quickly does Spravato® work?
Some patients experience improvement in depressive symptoms within hours to days after their first dose, though individual responses vary. Unlike traditional antidepressants that take 4-8 weeks, Spravato® works through a different brain mechanism that may produce more rapid effects. Your treatment team will monitor your progress closely during the induction phase.
What does Spravato® treatment feel like?
During and after administration, you may experience dissociation (feeling detached from reality), dizziness, sedation, or changes in perception. These effects typically resolve within 1.5-2 hours, which is why you remain under medical observation. Most patients find the experience manageable, especially in our supportive clinical environment.
Can I drive after my Spravato® session?
No. You cannot drive or operate machinery for at least 24 hours after receiving Spravato®. You must arrange for someone to drive you home after each treatment session. This is a critical safety requirement.
How long will I need Spravato® treatment?
Treatment duration is individualized. Most patients begin with twice-weekly sessions for 4 weeks (induction phase), then transition to weekly or every-other-week maintenance dosing based on their response. Some patients continue treatment long-term to maintain improvement, while others may eventually taper off under medical guidance.
Is Spravato® addictive?
Spravato® has a potential for misuse and dependence, which is why it's only available through the REMS program with administration in certified healthcare settings under direct supervision. You cannot take Spravato® home. All dosing occurs in our clinic with mandatory monitoring.
Will I still need my antidepressant medication?
Yes. Spravato® is always used in combination with an oral antidepressant. It's not a replacement for your current medication—it's an augmentation strategy designed to enhance treatment response.
